Greetings,
I recently got a Sound Blaster Live SB0220 card, and on Windows 98, it works great. It actually runs into the same error that the title of this post mentions, but on there, I can manually install the driver using the driver folder on the CD for the SB0220 on VOGONS Drivers, and then from there install the apps like audiohq and surround mixer.
However, the same is not working for Windows 2000. I noticed on that VOGONS Driver page for the SB0220, they have a specific link for Windows 2000 drivers. I get the same error about card detection, so, I try and extract it, and do the driver and software install the same way I did on Windows 98SE. And that isn't working either, as it installs the drivers as WDM drivers, but doesn't show up a volume icon in the task bar, and trying to bring up volume controls in the Windows Control Panel gives me an error saying it's probably not installed right.
I read some posts relating to the Audigy that creative cards are greedy and often demand the top pci slot. I didn't feel great about that, but, I moved it next to my AGP card, the GeForce 2 GTS, and... It still didn't fix it. So at this point, I'm kinda stumped.
The card isn't broken, it does work on Windows 98, if I install stuff in a manual matter, but I appear to not be able to do the same for Windows 2000. Any possible advice?
Motherboard: Intel D815EEA
CPU: Intel Pentium 3 866MHz (Planning on upgrading to a 1GHz one)
RAM: 133mhz 512MB SDRAM (2x 128MB sticks from Kingston, in the first and second slots, 1x 256MB stick from Kingston in the third slot)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS 64MB (in the top AGP Slot)
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live SB0220 (In the Top PCI slot, after the AGP slot. I don't like it here but apparently these cards are picky?)
Ethernet: Currently the onboard one, but switching for a Netgear Gigabit one eventually. (Which would go below the Sound Blaster Live)
Storage: CF2IDE and some SD2IDE thing. Also a Pioneer DVR-112DBK DVD writer, Sony DVD ROM Drive, and a Gotek USB Floppy Emulator
Additional: Some small black USB card with an NEC chip that can work in Windows 98, and provide USB 2.0 Support (Would go below the Netgear Gigabit card)
PSU: Corsair RM750e
Additional additional: Legacy USB Keyboard Support is enabled, so is COM1 for a Modem, and USB Booting is enabled
