Hi all.

I have a problem with my game called Stonekeep. You probably think "there were a lots of topics of this game." but i searched all the forum from up to down and i didn't find the solution.

Ok, lets get straight. I am installing Stonekeep on windows xp (not in Dosbox) on "c:\intrplay\stonkeep" and configuring setup. Now, I run Dosbox and write:
mount f f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
mount c c:\intrplay\stonkeep
I run Stonekeep and everything is good. Almost everything. Game is kinda laggy (game have freezes for microseconds) but sound is ok. I don't have any idea how to solve this problem.

Regards

PS Sorry for my english. I'm still learning.

Don't know anything specific about this game, but general advice is to try a CVS build, dynamic core, and mess around with cycles/frameskip.

For dosbox, that is the basics pretty much. 😀

Things to try to speed a game up, in order:

1.Increase cycles with Ctrl F12 until the sound starts breaking up. Then decrease again with Ctrl F11 until the sound is ok.

2.Try changing to the dynamic cpu core. This won't work with as many games, but it might work for Stonekeep. Just don't forget to change it back if something doesn't work. You have to change "core=normal" to "core=dynamic" in the dosbox.conf file. If it does work with your game, you should then be able to increase cycles more.

3.Increase frameskip to between 1 and 3 with Ctrl F8 - you should then be able to get a few more cycles out of dosbox, and you might find the game smoother overall.

4. Try a newer beta version of dosbox (cvs version). These are faster and have a more compatible dynamic core, plus other improvements, but also may have issues not in the official 0.63 release. One such version is at http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm (but note the instructions at the bottom of the download page).

I tried all the solutions you'd write and playing game is a little better but still not it. I found the solution no 1 (ctrl f11, ctrl f12) is helping a little. Game have freezes with starting move forward/backward, turning around, stop moving, fighting.

Sorry for double-post.
I found the solution for this problem. Just install the newest drivers for your graphic card.
