Whenever I play a game that uses MIDI in VDMSound, the MIDI music is low quality, it sounds like it's around a 11025hz sample type. Is there a way to fix this?

What MIDI device setting is the game using? Try General MIDI instead of OPL/Adlib/SoundBlaster.

Hmm.. that works, but it sounds really weird now. Is it possible to get Sound Blaster MIDI in high quality?

There's probably a sample rate option somewhere, but it's been too many years since I've used VDMSound.

Nope, VDMSound MIDI uses Windows' MIDI.

What prolly happens is that in the game you chose MT-32 MIDI while in LaunchPad (or vdms.ini if not using Launchpad) you have "General MIDI", or vice-versa (General MIDI in the game but MT32 in VDMS.) If these two settings don't match then "the MIDI instrument mapping" screws things up.

Possible OK configurations:

GAME setting / VDMSound setting / Windows Control Panel Sound Option
-------------------------------------------------------------------
MT-32 / MT-32 / GS Softsynth
General MIDI / General MIDI / GS Softsynth

ECEPTION (ONLY if owning a real MT32 or using a software MT32 emulator available separately):
GAME setting / VDMSound setting / Windows Control Panel Sound Option
-------------------------------------------------------------------
MT-32 / General MIDI / MT-32 emulator or MIDI port to which a real MT-32 is connected
