I followed the tutorial, but when I opened the DOS Box, i still got the Z drive. How do I change it to C?

i did everything, so when i went to install it, it still poops out on me. i followed the abandomia tutorial, but i have the cd, i don't have to download it. so do i copy the E file to the cdrive file that i have created, orwhat. i am sorry, i am very new at this, usually i pop in a cd and it installs. i don't remember the dos stuff because i was 9 years old.

Some error message? Would be helpful analyzing the problem.

Basically you do something like
mount c c:\games
mount d f:\ -t cdrom
in dosbox, assuming f: is your windows-cdrom.
Then, having the cdrom in your cd drive, you type "d:" in dosbox,
there you should find a setup/install executable that you can start
(i suppose you did it that far).

I followed the tutorial from abandonia that icy cold gave me. I made the folder in C: called DOSBox. In there I named a folder CDrive. In CDrive i made the folders Downloads, Files and ISO. I then downloaded the DOS program to the Files folder. Once downloaded, I ran the program in my DOSBox folder. I then opened up the DOSBox.conf and under the #lines section i put:
mount C C:\DOS\CDrive
mount D D:\ -t cdrom (or any other letter of your CD drive)
C:
CLS
I then saved it. However when I opened the DOSBox it didn't open into C but it opened into Z. So I then I typed:
mount C C:\DOSBox
C:
I then typed dir, where I did not get the 4 lines output, instead i got:
DIRECTORY OF C:\.

.. <DIR> 01-01-1980 0:00
CDRIVE <DIR> 25-07-2006 9:10

I then typed mkdir where is said that it was unable to make: .
Next I typed md test
I then typed in dir and got

Next I typed:
C:\>cd test
C:\TEST>cd ..
C:\>exit
I then deleted the test folder like the tutorial told me to. And I don't know where to go from there.

I hope you did not type "(or any other letter of your CD drive)" as that was just instuctions to change the "D:\" to whatever the drive letter if your CD drive is. If your CD is your D: dirve, type "mount D D:\ -t cdrom", if it is E:, type "mount D E:\ -t cdrom"

no, i just copied and pasted. it actually is changed to E. but where do i go from their?

go to the [autoexec] section, see the bottom of your dosbox.conf
Then it should start up in c:

i did that and it didn't start up in C

Obviously you must create these folders \DOS\CDrive using Windows Explorer first. Those folders MUST exist. Go to My PC and create a folder on C: called "DOS" (without quotes); and another one called "CDrive" inside it.

What "it" doesn't work?

Why didn't you try the Windows version instead? (Torin's Passage offers both!) It runs fine under XP.
