I am trying to get my old System Shock (CD-Version) to run. But I get a fatal error code 2004, resource error, could not find palette. I thought that perhaps raising the files limit which was set in config.sys to 30 or above. Perhaps it would solve the problem, but then i noticed there is no option for that in dosbox. Does anyone have any idea how to get sshock to run?

Files are enough (>100), but maybe it's missing some files. How did you
install the game/configure it? And how did you mount the drives?

Hmm, solved it. I forgot to correct the paths in the games config file to the dosbox mounted paths 😉
But I just experience the problems concerning speed that dosbox has with 3d engines. I guess 320x240 will have to do it...

Depending on your system, you can try the dynamic core (x86 only) and,
for dosbox 0.65, setting cycles=auto in dosbox.conf

Thx, that helps with 320x240 a lot, but 640x480 seems to be out of reach for a smooth gameplay.

thats true but you can also try running the game with VDMSound. a good guide on how this works, can be found here. 😉
