Hi.

I've downloaded EA's World Tour Golf, and the game is working just fine.

However, I remember back then, CGA used to have two colour palette modes that was easily interchangable. By default, the colours was magenta, cyan and white. However, it was possible to change this to green, brown and red.

I was wondering if Dosbox provides for this option, as green grass and brown water looks much better than cyan grass and white water. I know this was not hard coded in the game, as I remember that I was able to switch between the colour modes back then. Whether that was done in the game, or in dos, I can't recall.

Is there any way to get this option back? I'm running Windows Xp with GForce 4 .... I think.

Did you try the machine=cga or maybe tandy/pcjr? Some games have
a different pallette there.

I did try machine=cga. It had no effect. (Maybe I'm not doing it right?)
I'll try the tandy/pcjr command, and let you know if it works

Well the vga was choosen to be compatible with the cga, so most games
look much the same. But some don't.
You can always change the pallette by modifying the sources (forcing one
of the pallettes to be always used), but maybe there's some easier
solution (switch for the executable or so).

modifying the source?

Can you tell me where I can read up on doing that? You'll have to pardon me, I'm a real newbie . (Downloaded the Dosbox just this week)

I though there was a keyboard command you could use to switch the pallette in cga mode? Enable cga in dosbox.conf and look at the intro blue screen when you first start DosBox.

Think that's for composite cga only.

Hm in this case compiling the sources might be the first big step 😀
On the wikipedia there is some guide for compiling the dosbox
sources with mingw.
