I tried running the Dragon's Lair (DOS Version from 1993) through DOSBOX, but when I choose the options, the screen goes black and freezes, or the game closes and I get the following error message:

ASSERT FAILURE!: (zopen("a09912.dat")) at line 1600, file W"-~

Hmmm, I asked this question over two months ago, and nobody has replied...does anyone know what the problem is?

That's correct, so what? I'm tempted to close threads which are
bumped by useless commenting. If somebody has a solution to the
problem he'd have posted it.

I can only get the game working if I make a special DOS Bootdisk by putting a lot of files from different places together, but then I have to log off Windows and I still don't get any sound. I'd use the bootdisk, but I lost it and I can't remember where I got all of the files.

By the way, WD, there's a difference between not having an answer and completely ignoring a post until it's on page 31, where nobody will find it.

Hi, just got it working on my PC, I also had some troubles first.

In Windows it was ok to run if from the CD directly but not from a hard disk copy (error/freeze after intro screen), so I had to play around a bit...

Copy the "/PRODUCT/FULL" directory of the CD-ROM to the harddisk (any name should do). In DOSBox, mount the directory as a CD-ROM with the correct CD-Label - example for Windows:

mount c d:\Dragonslair -t cdrom -label DRAGONSLAIR

"d:\Dragonslair" in this case is the copy of the CD or the "FULL" subfolder on the harddisk.

On windows PCs the label is auto set if a CD is mounted, if you provide the CD label on Linux system it should work too. I hope this information is still useful for somebody. Have fun!
