Yesterday I downloaded Betrayal at Krondor, DOSBox and the D-fend frontend. I installed DOSBox and D-fend successfully and then tried running Krondor from my D drive where most of my stuff is. The setup worked, but the game itself didn't. Whenever I tried running the game it just went to a black screen with some random colours in it. I mucked around with the profile for ages but to no avail. I thought maybe the directory was too long, so i extracted it again on my desktop (C drive). Made an identical profile and lo an behold it works like a charm. I've compared the two profiles (using D-fend) and they are identical. To test wether it was the game or not I downloaded another game (Advanced Civilization) and ran it from my D drive. It works perfectly from there!
Usually it wouldn't be too bad running something from my C drive, but I only have 180 meg of space left on it, so i'm trying to keep stuff off it. Does anyone know why Krondor won't work on my D drive, and a solution to it? I'm using D-fend V2 and DOSBox 0.65 on Windows. If you need any other specifics just say so.
