Hi,

I'm having trouble running Psycho Pinball under windows XP with DosBox 0.65.

I know many people managed to do it.., but I can't. When I start Psycho..,
I'm getting information about starting Dos4GW, and then..
many many many:
Illegal read from...
Illegal write to...,

what could be the reason for this?? Am I doing something wrong??

Please help!,
Regards Pawel

Did you configure the sound correctly?

How did you mount the drives? How do you start the game?

If people managed to run it with the basic dosbox setup, this shouldn't be a serious issue.

Have you tried the different cpu core settings in dosbox.conf?
core=normal is more compatible than dynamic, I don't think dynamic core is needed for such an old game, anyway .

Then re-read the thread that mentions non-root usage for this game.
Also the core doesn't matter for this game, jfi.

I have run the game in the following way:

c:\DosBox\Dosbox.exe
mount c c:\Dosbox\Games\Psycho
c:
psycho.bat

(I also tried, when psycho was on C:\Psycho)
and tried with different configurations.., (Core..) using dbgl054 interface.

But I always get the same result (with illegal read/writes)..
Moreover I tried this on Knoppix with dosbox 0.63.., ang the result was identical (it was different computer)

Maybe I have some wrong version of Psycho ? (but I also downloaded it from 2 different sources..., and on XP it runs OK.., but very slow!!)

Any ideas??

Pawel

that is the non-root issue they are talking about
c:\DosBox\Dosbox.exe
mount c c:\Dosbox\Games
c:
cd psycho
psycho.bat
