Specs:

Intel E6700 core duo
Geforce 8800 GTX
2 gigs of ram
Windows XP Pro

Monitor:

1080P 52 inch sharp LCD TV (Yes I really do play my dos games on a 52 inch screen)

Pretty much my problem is related with the PC Speaker emulation on 0.65 of DOSBox and Commander Keen 1-3. The games work perfect, but I noticed that the PC speaker sounds are a bit choppy. I remember them sounding a lot smoother than this on an older build of DOSBox and on my now long gone 386.

Is there anyway I can fix the sound so it doesnt sound choppy? It is most noticeable when you first enter the level select map or when you exit a level.

On an unrelated note, does Keen Dreams have joystick support? This seems to be the only Commander Keen game that wont detect my USB gravis gamepad. Every other DOS game detects my joystick just fine, which makes me wonder if there even is joystick support in the game?

I use D-Dend as my frontend, with DOSBox 0.65. Joystick is enabled for Keen Dreams in DOSBox.

push alt, enter to get to fullscreen, Cycles should be 3000 on dynamic mode. If the sound is still choppy push ctrl f8 10 times amd lower the cycles a notch.

Abyss,

I tried that. No luck. Any other ideas? Can I use .70 with my existing version of Dfend?

Also what is going on with Keen Dreams? Why can't I use my joystick with it?

Don't know. See if pcspeaker/joystick works with keen/keen dreams
in dosbox 0.70 and if so look out for some frontend that suits your needs.

Isn't there a buffer size setting for the pc speaker in the config file? Not home right now to check...
