I don't think Vista plays a role here. That DOS/4GW thing is something that is/was used a lot in DOS-games by many game companies. Looks like it ran into a problem. You might want to search the forum for posts on how to replace DOS/4GW with a similar thing called DOS32A. It might just work.

I followed the instructions for DOS/32A as outlined in the thread:
[ANN]: DOS/32A v9.1.2 has been released
Now the executable won't even run, I get:
ERROR: Program requires a video card with VESA BIOS.
I assume this is something fairly easy to change in DosBox?

"transfer stack overflow" could be related to cycles=auto. Try a fixed value.

I'm a bit confused.
I don't think I ever replaced DOS4GW with DOS32A for Fragile Allegiance. I only make the replacement if the game proves to be unstable - sometimes DOS32A creates problems too so no need to use it unless you have to.
I also never had crash issues with Fragile Allegiance but ... are you two using the REAL version or the one that's on Underdogs with the ripped animations and suchlike because THAT DOES cause a crash if you forgot to turn those off. Rips often have problems - was like that under real DOS too.
