Does the status window of dosbox say something about a connected joystick?

not that i saw i do the command to start up nhl 95 hockey with dosbox but then if i keep the dosbox.conf file as auto where it says joystick then that calibrate screen never shows up which is weird.

Cause it does show up if i put it as 2axis or 4axis but then the controller doesn't let me calibrate it at all like it won't go up or down right left etc.

Um yes but if SDL doesn't detect the joystick you can calibrate
as much as you want, you won't get any calibration screen.

Maybe plug in a different joystick and see if that one is detected.

yeah i plugged in my pretty much worn out logitech wingman rumble pad and it dectected that one. But of course that one is unusable cause both of the analog plasitc things on it are broken off and the buttons stick. so i dunno why it wont detect the logitech dual action tho there both from the same company's. I hope i can get my logitech dual action to detect somehow cuz it's the full working good controller and only one i have.
