Here's a weird one: when playing Ultima 5 (using DOSBox 0.70) , I found that when I selected the "Hole up and camp" command, I couldn't select how long to rest for unless I selected 5 or 0 hours. All the other numbers keys (both at the top of the keyboard and on the numeric keypad) simply weren't responding.

The problem doesn't happen when I run Ultima 5 straight from XP, and - as far as I can tell - it's possible to fix the problem by first, at some point, pressing any of the number keys (ie, 1-0) to select an active party member... once I do that, using the number keys to select the number of hours to "Hole up and camp" seems to work for the rest of that play session.

But it's a strange problem and I'm wondering if anyone would have any idea what causes it...

Turn off Num-Lock and it should work just fine. For some reason, the numeric keypad seems to be directly linked to the number keys in some manner when Num-Lock is turned on. So, 2 becomes South, 4 West, etc... The only numbers that remain are 5 (no non-numeric value,) and 0 (which should be Insert, but doesn't seem to be for some reason.) However, turning Num-Lock off seems to break that link, so that the numbers work just fine again 😀 I never play it outside DOSBox, so I have no idea if this is a DOSBox feature or just the way Ultima V acts.
