Ok, my first main problem is that im running windows vista on this PC. Its brand new, 3300mhz speed 446 RAM and i have downloaded dosbox 0.63.

It installs fine, i then downloaded ishar 1 from best old games and unzipped it into the dosbox folder, though i dont think where u unzip it matters.

I then try to open the game and i get an error message saying the system doesnt allow full screen applications. So it wont work at all.

So i went onto another PC i have which is a 900mhz with 512ram but with windows XP on it. I did the exact same and the game works. Although when playing the mouse starts lagging and everything gets delayed, like i click move and it wont respond for 20 seconds. Then everything clears up and i can play perfectly for 30-40 seconds before i get another 20 seconds of lag. This makes it impossible to play as some swine goblins came and killed me while i was unable to click the attack button'

Anyone know why its lagging or how i can fix it. I had no other programs running except dosbox and ishar.

Also the sound doesnt work at all, but thats not really a problem as i dont mind having no sound aslong as i get to play without the lag.

Thanks in advance

That's a big problem.

1. Your using Vista.
2. You only have 512mb of RAM and it looks like 64mb is being eaten by your integrated video card. That's really bad.
3. You should be using DosBox 0.70 not DosBox 0.63 which came out in November of 2004.

It installs fine, i then downloaded ishar 1 from best old games and unzipped it into the dosbox folder, though i dont think where u unzip it matters.

We don't support abandonware here. It's not legal.
As far as installing games in DosBox it's best to actually install the games in DosBox.

You execute DosBox.
You mount your drives.
You surf to where your game is.
You install the game.
You configure the game.
You play the game.

I then try to open the game and i get an error message saying the system doesnt allow full screen applications. So it wont work at all.

That error message means that you did not try to run the game in DosBox. That error message means that your are trying to play the game in Windows Vista without DosBox and Vista will not let you play it because it will not allow full-screen DOS programs that require graphics modes to work. (Only way around this is to install XP video drivers which is not recommended)

So i went onto another PC i have which is a 900mhz with 512ram but with windows XP on it. I did the exact same and the game works.

So your not using DosBox correct?

Although when playing the mouse starts lagging and everything gets delayed, like i click move and it wont respond for 20 seconds.

Either you have something on your computer eating up your processor time, NTVDM itself is eating up your processor time, or the game is misconfigured.

Anyone know why its lagging or how i can fix it. I had no other programs running except dosbox and ishar.

From what your saying your not even using DosBox.....
While playing the game you should open your Task Manager and see what's using your processor.

Also the sound doesnt work at all, but thats not really a problem as i dont mind having no sound aslong as i get to play without the lag.

Most likely you haven't configured your sound properly. If you are using XP and not DosBox to play your games then you should configure it for:

Soundblaster (preferably the original)
IRQ 5
DMA 1
