While playing the campaign game on HoMM (original version) the game continually crashes DOSBox at the same spot each time. I have had it crash in the past, but if i change my moves around substantially (ie avoid a battle until a few turns later) it would continue on. That is failing now because the last point of the autosave is before I get attacked and after that battle it consistently crashes. I have tried turning off the sounds, running with memory settings of 16,32 and 64 and tried both DOSBox 7.0 and 6.5.
For stats here it is....
Pentium M 1.86 GHz
512 MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon x300 (64MB)
Not sure of sound board (SigmaTel C-Major Audio) under sound properties
Windows XP Home SP2
Sound mode was sb16 with gus to true, also tried turning this off
unsure of video mode, i didn't change anything
I tried with both .70 and .65 for DOSBox
Here is the error in the console from DOSBox .65:
CONFIG:Loading settings from config file dosbox.conf

Here is the error for DOSBox .70:
CONFIG:Loading primary settings from config file dosbox.conf
MIXER:No Sound Mode Selected.
MIDI:Opened device:win32
Exit to error: DynCore: illegal option in opcode 0xff
I can reproduce it constantly and if someone would like me to provide the game and file to run it in a debug mode, I can do that.
Thanks,
Zack
