I just installed the CD version of RTZ to run with DOSBox 0.7 (in Windows XP). I'm using a Gateway M465 (Intel T2500 2.0 GHz processor), 1 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 for graphics. It is unplayably slow. The cutscenes play pretty well with good sound and normal speed, but the interactive part of the game is very slow with both the video and background sound being very choppy. CPU performance in Windows Task Manager doesn't seem to be the limiting factor as it doesn't seem to run higher than 40%, even with the DOSBox CPU cycles cranked up to 100K. I'm using SB Pro 1 configuration for the sound. I've tried disabling the joystick in the DOSBox configuration, changing the CPU core between dynamic and normal, changing the CPU cycles down to 3000 and up to 90000, but I can't seem to get it to run smoothly.

Any ideas?

Set core=dynamic and cycles=max before starting the game, is it better then?

There was no perceptible difference in performance with cycles=max and core=dynamic set in DOSBox.
