I love to play the crusader no remorse and no regret games but the problem with no remorse is that it wants be to remove some write-protection type file. And the deal with no regret is that even though the disk is in good shape my e: drive won't read it, Please help.

Both games run perfectly in DOSBox. Do what eL_PuSHeR wrote, and post more information.

Will for the No remorse game every time I try to load it, it always comes back with a message that says warning e:\static\typeflag.dat exists and failed to open in write mode. Please remove write-protection.

And I am not sure about No regret the disk itself is in great shape but the e: doesn't read it the computer keeps telling me to put the disk in yet it is in there already.

I'm not sure I get what you're saying. Are you saying Windows itself can't read the CD yet you mounted it in Dosbox? Of course there will be problems then. Either you clean the CD or you should get it off ebay again unless it's your drive of course. Either way, little we can do if the CD itself is damaged.

What about the no remorse problem the static\typeflag.dat what can I do about that. And yes I did uninstall and reinstall the dosbox program but that really did do anything. If I can fix the no remorse problem that would be just fine I can live with that.

How would removing Dosbox do anything? THe illegal flag is most likely caused because the CD's file table can be read but the file itself can't be accessed because your CD drive is either f**ked or the CD is f**ked.

The only other thing I can think of, is that you are mounting your installed game as a CD-ROM or the game doesn't like being mounted on the E drive with no C drive present. Since you won't clarify what exactly you did, I doubt anyone can really help you more than this anyway.

Okay, when I downloaded dosbox 0.70 off of dosbox 86emulaters I thought great now I can play the crusader games all over again and remember the good old days. Thinking about how much f**king fun it is to kill the bad guys. So I installed dosbox 0.70 than I went to install the crusader games. no remorse worked but no regret didn't. I also install the first privateer game as well. Than after 30 min. of playing privateer I went to play crusader no remorse but the message that I said perviously "E:\static\typeflag.dat exists and could not open in write mode.
please remove write-protection."

Now I can play oblivion just fine so there for I know my e:drive is not F**Ked and I know that NONE OF MY CD'S ARE F**KED because I keep them cleaned and in a safe enough environment that I know they are cleaned. Now the reason why I uninstalled and reinstalled dosbox is because I thought that might help with my problem well it didn't NOW I AM LOOKING FOR another of trying to fix my problem.

AFAIK crusader starts from the C: drive.
I suggest you mount your cd-rom as D:, then install crusader from D: to the default C:\Crusader, change to C:\crusader and start your game from there. Obviously, it's impossible for DOSBox to write anything to your cd-rom drive, which might be the cause for your write protection error.

Crusader.exe is what starts the game. The only thing I can think of besides a bad disk is a bad install or the cd drive is not mounted properly in DOSBox. There is a crusader.cfg file in the directory that tells the game which drive is your cd
cdletter=e
The file you mentioned is in the c:\crusader\static directory where you installed it on the hard drive, so I don't know why it would be trying to read it from your mounted cd.

as has been proven by other Crusader: No Re... requests for help, it helps to do this:
- delete everything from your hard drive that got installed in previous trials to get the game running.
- make a folder named Games in c:\
- put one of the game CD-Roms into the CD-Rom drive
-start Dosbox
- type the following and press enter at the end of the line
mount c c:\games
mount d (enter here your CD-Rom drive letter) -t cdrom
d:
install (or is it setup?)

Then install No Regret to c:\regret and after this No Remorse to c:\remorse.
To play you mount again c:\games as c and your cd-rom as d, pop in the right CD, change to the right folder (remorse or regret) and play.

Please follow these steps and if it doesn't work, report back at what step it doesn't work. Because both games work with Dosbox and in the past it always bboiled down to user errors when the games didn't work.
