Jetstrike too fast!

First of all, hi I'm new, but have been using DOSbox for quite a while to play old games!

Now to the point, I've recently downloaded an old favourite of mine, Jetstrike, but I can't get the game to run slow enough to be controllable. If I reduce the CPU cycles it remains unplayably fast until it starts to become jerky at all times. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground! I've scoured the readme and various FAQs and searched for jetstrike on this forum but most things seem to concentrate on speeding games up 🙁

So is anyone else out there playing jetstrike and managed to get it running right?

Here's the standard info -

1. Motherboard - Not sure, its a Samsung R40plus laptop running a Celeron Processor
2. Processor type and speed - Celeron M 440 running at 1.86ghz
3. Amount and type of RAM - 766Mb of RAM
4. Video board w/ RAM amount and type - ATI Radeon Express 1250
5. Sound board - Inbuilt
6. Operating system - Vista Basic
7. Game name (and version, if applicable) - Jetstrike
8. Description of problem (be detailed: saying "it's jerky" doesn't help, saying "the player sprites seem to be jerky when I'm pressing any of the arrow keys" does) - As above
9. Reproducibility of problem (always, only once, always but only on a specific level, etc.) - All the time
10. Sound mode used - not sure, what ever the standard is most likely?
11. Video mode (Software, OpenGL, Direct3D, or Glide, and resolution) - Standard
12. Version of emulator (for VDMSound, probably 2.0.4 or 2.1.0; for DOSBox, 0.58+) - DOSbox 0.70
13. Steps already attempted to solve the problem (please say you've read the README if you haven't, and READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T!) - As above
