I am running DOSBOX 0.72 on a laptop running XP SP2
I found an old cd of ecstatica.
After much brain pain, succeeded in installing it using dosbox and it runs the intro, with sound. At the end of the intro he has arrived at the village and he just stands there looking around. There seems to be no way to make him do anything.
The same is true with sound disabled.
There is no cursor visible.
I can press escape and get the menu up and then I have a cursor and can do all the things in the menu, but as soon as I resume the game, cursor goes and nothing.
Any suggestions.
I am running with DBGL front end, but the same happens if I tun direct from the dosbox prompt.

If you can still press ESC and access the menu, then the game might not be hanged.

Yes but I can't do anything else. Has anyone got ecstatica running on DOSBOX0.72

You move the character using the cursor keys on the numblock (num lock off i think).

thank you, that may well help. Being a laptop it doesn't have a separate numeric pad. However I think num lock and then shift with 4, 8, 6, 2 may do it.
