I'm trying to setup my Microsoft Sidewinder joystick for use in Duke Nukem 3D. I've tried the joystick using the auto setting and ch but whenever I start the game, everything but the rudder function works. The joystick settings are correct in the game setup and the switch on the joystick is in the correct position. The game settings are the same as when I use to play under Win98. Now using XP. Outside of that everything else seems to function fine. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

joysticks in the dos era in general had only a few axis and buttons. No things like rudders.

maybe try swap34=true in dosbox.conf and/or set another joystick type

The rudder control is supported in Duke Nukem 3D as well as the CH flightstick. Guess I'll play with the control settings some more.

Well, I got the rudder to work. For some reason the throttle control on the sidewinder was acting as the rudder. So this joystick section setting worked:

joysticktype=ch
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=true
buttonwrap=true

Changing the swap34 from false to true is what changed it. Now Duke Nukem acts as it always did.
