Has anybody ever succeeded to make it fully playable under XP? With no compatibility modes game crashes right after selecting a track. With compatibility modes (Win95/98/ME) it runs with sound delay. I've made a custom fix for the game to work without sound delay, but there are still problems related to sound (crash or no sound after playing 3 or 4 times without exiting). This is the custom fix I made. If anybody got sugestions or knows to fix this please feel free to take a look and modify this file.
Regards,
Filipe

On all three systems I had, it gave me problems under winxp. But I guess I fixed it. Here is the updated fix.

I guess it's still not 100%. It crashes for me on exactly the same part in arcade mode level 3, stage 5 (on the curve the co-driver says "trough rough surface) with that guru meditation problem. Is anybody also experiencing this? Also, please let me know if the fix worked for you. This is the error I'm getting:
Guru Meditation
Error code [8000ED1E]
Exception!
Code C0000005 (access violation) at IP 0000104A
Branch to Alpha Centauri
Attempt to read from address 0000104A

ESI=005C3100 EDI=00000008 ESP=0013F358 EBP=005C2FE4
C=0 Z=1 S=0 V=0 P=1
I guess it's due to a SBLive! usage. My Audigy 2ZS passed away and I had to replace it with an old Live! and I remember it was working before.

It's odd, I used to get crashes on mud. The trick is to run the game at 60hz refresh rate maybe...

My PC spec: Win10 64bit, i7-4970K (not overclocked), KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, Creative Soundblaster ZXr, 16GB RAM, Asus Z97-A motherboard, NZXT 410 case, ROG Swift GSYNC monitor

I used to get crashes on mud.

exactly where it happens

Edit: oddly, the game crashes on the menus if I try to run it at 60Hz. But forcing FSAA seemed to fix the crash on mud.
Edit: Only xQ or xS FSAA will work! Others crash the game right away.

Framerate also seems to affect this happening. I just got my 8800gtx back from warranty today and it keeps giving me that same error with every kind of AA. It worked once when I enabled VSync (but crashed on 2nd attempt).

This error is imposible to fix

I trying all methods:
V-sync on , low graph , max graph , 16bits , 32bits , patches , tripple bufer&mapping off , compatibility mode 98/ME , one working core , nofmv=1.

And i always have this error in split screen mobile 1 mode, on first track when i was on mud and im crossing gate.

Actually you can fix this if you force the game to run with a lower framerate. Creating a profile for the game with a very high AA value combined with a high AA transparency supersampling will fix it.
Mud, this fix is to use with Microsoft ACT 5.x if the game crashes after the track selection screen.

It's easy, just install ACT and then install my fix using the program. The rest you do using a profile manager by creating a new profile for the game (nvinspector for nvidia cards, and I'm sure there's one for ATI users). Make sure you select a very high AA mode (like 64x) and very high AA supersampling transparency (sparse grid supersampling modes will start to slow the game down, fixing the crash on mud).

ok, i installed ral.sdb by Compatibility Administrator (32-bit)

Then i install nvinspector, i chosed ral.exe and in option:
"Antianalising - Transparency supersampling" i choosed: "8x Sparse grid supersampling".
"V-sync" : "force on"
and that was all?

Make sure you select a very high AA mode (like 64x)

I dont understand this, for what option make AA mode?

///

And now i have problems with sound on compatibylity mode 98/me and with off this option ;/
I have instaled patch 6

You can choose either AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_8v8 or AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_4v12. There is a 32xS that also might work. Win98/ME compat. mode must be off for the sound to work properly.

Dont work, error still work

For: Antianalising - Transparency supersampling
I have too to choose:
AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_ALPHA_TEST
AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_PIXEL_KILL
AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_OPTIMAL
AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_DYN_BRANCH
AA_MODE_REPLAY_MODE_ALL
AA_MODE_REPLAY_SAMPLES_TWO
AA_MODE_REPLAY_SAMPLES_FOUR
AA_MODE_REPLAY_SAMPLES_EIGHT

and i have choosen last samples_eight

You need to choose either AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_8v8, AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_4v12 or 32xS AA mode combined with any Sparse Grid Supersampling mode.

Aww, i choosed in wrong pleace.
So for Windows XP i should choose 32xS AA mode combined with any Sparse Grid Supersampling mode? --> 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS] ?

I have to choose in Antianalising-setting:

Application-controlled / Off
2x [2x Multisampling]
2xQ [2x Quincunx (blurred)]
4x [4x Multisampling]
8x [8x CSAA (4 color + 4 cv samples)]
16x [16x CSAA (4 color + 12 cv samples)]
8xQ [8x Multisampling]
16xQ [16x CSAA (8 color + 8 cv samples)]
32x [32x CSAA (8 color + 24 cv samples)]
2x1 [2x1 Supersampling (D3D only)]
1x2 [1x2 Supersampling (D3D only)]
2x2 [2x2 Supersampling (D3D only)]
3x3 [3x3 Supersampling (D3D only)]
4x4 [4x4 Supersampling (D3D only)]
4xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 2x MS (D3D only)]
8xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 4x MS]
8xSQ [Combined: 2x2 SS + 2x MS]
12xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 4x OGMS (D3D only)]

Either 32xS or both the 64x modes here will do the job (combined with sparse grid supersampling). This will definitely slow things down, but it's the only known fix.
