Hello,
I have had great success using DOSBox .72 to run Stonekeep, but have had to reinstall OS recently. Now when I try to install SK from Windows or via the cmd line D:\Install.exe, I get the following error:
"The image file D:\install.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine."

My specs - (this is a home built gizmo)
EVGA 780i SLI Mobo
Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 2.4GHz CPU
8GB DDR2 Corsair RAM (2x4GB)
XFX Nvidia 8800 GTX 756MB DDR3 (x2) Video cards in SLI config
Creative Labs X-Fi Platinum
Windows XP Pro x64 SP2 OS
Dell 2407WFPHC monitor @ 1920x1200.

Stonekeep (ver ?, but patch not required)

Read the readme (kinda useless, circa 1995), read all posts here related to Stonekeep, installed all patches and updates to OS, copied CD to desktop and tried install from desktop... Didn't attempt to install via DOS Box (don't know how yet).

I am thinking this is a CD drive mapping issue, since of course Windows says everything is fine....

Any assistance you all could provide would be greatly appreciated! ;>

Well, learn how to do it, it's quite simple actually. There's a lot of tutorials here and on the web on how to install games on DOSBox. It isn't surprising at all that the installer of an old DOS game doesn't recognize a modern CPU.

Small snide comment (don't take too seriously): your computer knowledge should be on par with the technology level of your machine. I had to think about a half-blind person driving a Porsche at top speed (; .

Oh, and if you already had SK installed, you can simply use that installation with your "new" DOSBox. Just mount all drives the same way you did during the original installation, configure any special settings in dosbox.conf (if you've changed any of the DOSBox defaults, for instance sound settings), and run your game.

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.
