I'm trying to get Warlords 2 Deluxe to run on DOSBox. I'm using version .63 because .72 is shown as not supported in the compatibility FAQ. Also, versions .65, .70, and .71 all have problems (they're solvable though). I'm trying to choose the path of least resistance.

Anyways, I've mounted the C and D drives in DOSBox and opened up the directory and typed in "install" and hit enter. It brings up the install screen for Warlords 2. I hit install, it starts to install and then DOSBox just closes. That's about it.

Here's
what I'm typing in:
mount c c:\W2D (W2D is where all the game files are located)
C:
dir
install

In
the second DOSBox window this is displayed after I start to install and then DOSBox closes:
Redirect output to Null
CPU:GRP5:Illegal Call 7

SYSTEM SPECS: Windows XP (SP3)
1 Gig Ram
Nvidia 7800 GTX
P4 3.4

Any help will be appreciated. I've read various FAQS from this site and the DOSBox wiki, I've searched the forums to, but have found nothing helpful.

Ignore all previous versions and use DOSBox 0.72.

Why are you mounting the game install directory as the C:\ drive?
Why are you trying to install the game to where you are installing the game from?

Using .72.

Ok, I got past the first install screen. Thank you. Another problem has crept up though.

Here's what I've done:

mount c c:\warlords 2 (empty folder)
mount d d:\ -t cdrom (have the game on CD)
D:
cd Warlords~1
install

It works now. but once I get to the other installation screen, it doesn't let me install the game. The only highlighted option (there's four) is the exit one. Don't understand why the others are "grayed out" so the speak.

Something is wrong if you have to use obfuscated paths like Warlords~1.

Why would you like to run install twice?

You guys are helpful. The obfuscated path was the other problem. I burned the game to another cd without that path (I did that before for god knows why). Installation went very smoothly. I have yet to actually play the game, but I tested the music and sound fx in the installation process with no problems. A big thank you to DosFreak and MiniMax.

EDIT: Just ran the game and its perfect. Thanks again.
