Please bear with me as I am fairly new to using DosBox.

I am using the DBGL JAVA front end for DosBox as I have totally failed at running DosBox without some sort of front end. Using this front end DoxBox is working fine but I am trying to make a change that I am not sure is possible.

I am sorry but I am at work 😊 and do not have my DosBox version handy but I have the latest version of DBGL installed.

When playing Railroad Tycoon I would like to slow the game up as much as possible. The best experience playing Railroad Tycoon is on an 8088 Processor. As you use a fast processor game time will move much faster but your trains do not speed up at the same rate.

For example, on an 8088 machine I might get 10 deliveries in a month. On a 386 machine I might only get 5. On a 486 machine I might only get 3.

This tends to throw the economics of the game off a bit.

I am looking for a way to "slow the game up" either in my Front End or DosBox itself. I'd like to emulate as slow a processor as possible.

Is this something I can do in DosBox? If so, can someone either direct me to a place the explains how to do this or provide me with an explanation on how to make this happen?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi Scrogs, welcome to Vogons,

Try setting cycles to a fixed value. The lower the value, the slower the game goes. Maybe in the range of 3000 cycles or even less.
