I've an old accounting program that needs ansi.sys to work. In DOS, it would load through config.sys. How do I do it in Dosbox? Tried downloading and running ansi.com, but my graphics are still scrambled. Tried putting it in config.nt, but don't know how to get Dosbox to run config.nt. The old config.sys command was device=\windows\command\ansi.sys (in XP and Vista, it resides in \windows\system32, of course). Putting the line in dosbox.conf does not work either.

Many thanks, if somebody knows how to do this.

dosbox technically comes with ansi.sys build in.
If it doesn't work as well as you hoped then you should be able to load nansi.com

DOSBox does not use config.nt. Only Windows uses config.nt.

You can try an ANSI program like you already did:

NNansi
http://www.kegel.com/nansi/

/EDIT DAMNS YOU TO HELL QBIX! 😁

DOSBox itself cannot load device drivers unless:
1. You execute your driver using a TSR that loads device drivers (may not work with DOSBox)
2. Install MS-DOS in DOSBox. Then you can use config.sys all you want.

Thanks for the replies, folks. Tried nnansi.com, but still get display gibberish. Looks like I'm going to have to finally deep-six this legacy accounting program. It's getting too difficult to maintain Windows 98 platforms to run it. Just won't work on anything newer.

well we could try to fix our ansi driver to work with you program. You'd have to email me in order to setup some debug things.
my email can be found on the crew page
