Hi all, I have a quite strange problem with the old DOS-based game "Fugger 2" running on my PC.

I copied the folders from the Fugger 2 CD to my pc and installed the game with DOS BOX 0.70. Then I played the game in DOS BOX by starting the FUGGER2.EXE and it worked. When I wanted to play again next time, I tried to start the FUGGER2.EXE in DOS BOX, but it didn't work:

"kernel error at openflc: FLC file not found"

I tried several times, but I didn't understand the problem. When I install the game new, I can play again, but as soon as I close DOS BOX and start the game another time, it won't work.

Can anybody please help me?

Looks like you're not setting up the mounts correctly when you run the game other times. Make sure you have the same mounts active while installing the game and while running the game. DOSBox does not save its mount settings.

Also, switch to DOSBox 0.72, which in itself is already 2 years old, but a darn sight newer than 0.70. Always use the most up to date version. 0.73 is due to come out this month anyway.

Thank you very much, I now managed to restart the game after DOSBox was closed. I just didnt know that I had to use exactly the same commands as during the installation. Thanks a lot!

A classical installation of "Die Fugger 2" is not needed! So you can avoid mounting the CD.

1.) Copy the whole directory "FUGGER2" from CD to harddisk (in your DOS games folder)
2.) Start DOSBox and run "SNDSETUP.BAT" to create the sound config file (see here for the best configuration)
3.) Run "FUGGER2.EXE"

That is all! 😉

PS: Don't forget to change the colors from 256 to 32768 in game options for a significant better look.

I want to play this game in best quality! 😁

And why I should not write down my experiences for other gamers with same problems?

Lebostein: I don't think it was anything personal. I don't think ripa realized that you were posting to an old thread and are the same person who started the other one.

Though in unaware, immature english-speaking ears, Die Fugger is the best name for a game ever.

Yes, they simply should talk about 'Fugger 2' instead of, because the article word in ger is another word in eng.
