Howdy all,

I am running dosbox 0.73 on a Kubuntu (Jaunty) linux install with a nVidia GFX 8600M GT card.

I have got Mech warrior 2 mercenaries 1.1 running past the point where it usually moaned about a missing CD and have now run into a new problem.

"mw2.exe -fatal #4d: SYSERR_CANTFINDVXRDRIVE : Unable to find video driver file."

Which occurs everytime actual mission starts, everything else (intro, game menus etc.) works. It is only when dropping to the action that things go wrong.

The only other mention I have seen of this error is in another VOGONS thread but it went unanswered.

I have tried all the permutations in the machine= line just to see but no luck there.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Arjay

Are you using an abandonware copy or something?

Mechwarrior 2 Mercs on DOSBox 0.73 Instructions:

1. Launch DosBox
2. Mount Mechwarrior 2 Mercs CD Image:
imgmount d mechwa~2.cue -t iso
3. Go to DOS directory on CD, type INSTALL
4. Increase cycles to 15,000+.
5. Install Game. (Full Install)
6. Setup sound use SB16
7. Start game.

nope, I am using a bin/cue pair I ripped of my (miraculously surviing) original DOS CD. The cue file has all the audio tracks as well as the data track. I have patched to 1.1 and this is the result.

Tried it with a downloaded bin/cue pair and it works, Guess my CD wasn't so good.
