I was able to install it just fine, ran the patch, worked fine, I can start it up using: fall z.cfg

However, when I need to select things the keyboard shortcuts work fine, but I can not transfer the mouse control to dosbox like I was able to during the install, so I can not proceed with the character creation.

Any suggestions?

Figured it out myself - needed to press ctrl+F10

There's an option in DOSBox's configuration files that you can set to have it automatically capture the mouse when you click on the DOSBox window, but if that's not enabled then you have to go the ctrl+f10 route.
