Adventure Construction Kit allows you to create tile-based Ultima-like games. You can get a copy here (ACK22.ZIP).

I've been unable to install ACK because I get the following error:

"A critical error occured in trying to manipulate files. Make sure that you have your command interpreter as C:\COMMAND.COM, then try to install ACK again."

Any ideas about how to solve this problem?

Maybe try this:
copy z:\command.com c:\command.com

What exactly were you doing when the error occurred?
Perhaps you didn't extract the files with the directory structure?
The install.exe is for the soundcard only, not for placing files anywhere.
The ack.bat runs the program, and it seems to work correctly.

Oh, I guess I downloaded a different ack22.zip. The version I have doesn't have directories or batch files; it's the original archive that needs to install and decompress, but the installer fails at the end. Guess I'll just use the version I linked! 😉 Thanks for pointing that out.
