Hi there,

Just wondering is there a way to have Windows 3.1 work with internet access? I have Windows 3.1 working GREAT and was just wondering to have it work with the internet. I know I can get online with my Vista no problem...but not with Win 3.1. I have broadband and would like to use AOL Instant Messenger for Win 3.1 and maybe a browser or two. Just to be a bit different. Thanks...

For starters, I assume you have Windows 3.1 running in DOSBox? I notice Windows 3.1x DOSBox Guide says "No Internet Yet".

Personally I'm wondering if you might need Windows 3.11 for Workgroups to get started.

There has been a post about it somewhere here...
What you need is a special build, like Hal's Megabuild, some driver in Windows to pass through the emulated net to the real net, some network driver for Windows 3.11.

I' not mentioning this in the guide because it is Windows only AFAIK and especially you need a special build of Dosbox.
I never tried it myself since at first I was interested but then decided that I really DON'T need an internet capable W3.11 in Dosbox just to show I have it. No real use for me.

Edit: yes, it is availlable in the Megabuild, see http://home.arcor.de/h-a-l-9000/ for Hal's site with the megabuild download and
http://home.arcor.de/h-a-l-9000/ne2kstuff/db_ne2000.html for configuring the emulated novell network card You need to find drivers for Windows 3.11 probably...
