This game seems to have some kind of configuration utility named uvconfig which automatically tries to find the "optimal" resolution for the game. Unfortunately at least on my DosBox 0.72 it results in the game running at 320x480 (screenshot attached) which is hardly an ideal resolution. Here's the text output uvconfig gives:

First rule in this place is to report problems with the newest version of Dosbox. Also 0.73 offers more emulated graphic cards to try out.

To be honest I had completely managed to miss that there was a new version out. Those new graphics modes fix precisely this issue. Sorry to be of trouble then.

did you have to change machine=svga_s3 to something else? Or it just works without any changes?

I am running dosbox 0.74 and I have the exact same issue as described here. Anyone have a solution?

edit: deleting the UNIVBE.DRV and UVCONFIG.DAT and re-running the UVCONFIG file generated new vesa files for me. I then loaded the NOLFB TSR patch and started sentient which gave me full screen. yay =)

As Dominus and robertmo already mentioned above, choose a different
chipset/vesa emulation style and re-run univbe (or get rid of the latter
completely if the game allows it).

By the way, with aspect=true the picture should be 4:3 even at 320x480.
