Just wanted to add-in that the patched windows SVGA works in Windows 3.11 UNDER dosbox too. Just tried installing Windows 3.11 fWG under Dosbox - latest version. (Plain vanilla 0.73 version, non-CVS).

Mini Guide:

Step 1. - Install using the default VGA driver,

Step 2. - and when running Win3.11 normally under dosbox, go to control panel (or setup.exe out of the windows environment)

Step 3. - and choose one of the built-in svga driver modes.

Step 4. - Exit windows. (or the setup program.)

Step 5. - THEN overwrite the patched windows svga driver (svga256.drv)in the \windows\system directory over the original svga256.drv file.

And startup windows.

(Done this in my DELL Inspiron 6400 - Centrino Duo T5600, 3GB DDR667, Win XP Pro/Vista x64 laptop.)

Limitations : Only 256 colours (upto max of 1024x768 res.)supported since it's a patched version of the Microsoft's own svga256.drv file.

The link to the driver is in my signature below.

The good part of it, is that it doesn't make Windows 3.1 into Vista colors (like the s3 driver does)

What do you mean?
