DosBox 0.72 works quite well on Windows XP to run MicroCap II, which is a SPICE based electronic circuit simulator.

I set up in my computer a directory structure as follows:

c:
\mc2
\data ;contains user data files
\mc2 ;contains program files

To run, I start DosBox, then mount c -c:\mc2
followed by changing drive, directories:
c:
mc2
mc2.exe

...and there it is and it works. Without DosBox, MicroCap II 's somewhat primitive graphics interface would not function at all in a DOS window in XP; screen was garbled. DosBox lets me re-live my old DOS circuits analysis experience on a new machine.

Thus far, I haven't been able to make DosBox and mc2 coexist via a batch file; not necessary, but would be nice.

Hi Drew

I remembered doing some serious simulation work with microcap 2 in my early engineering career under MS-DOS too.

Wow, can't believe you still have this ancient but wonderful EDA software. Wish I could re-live those days of seeing the running parametric numbers during simulation runs again, but alas I've lost my copy of mcap2...

Currently I uses Microsoft Virtual PC to emulate DOS and run some of my favourite DOS-based softwares such as Norton Commander, Orcad and TopSpice. Would love to run mcap2...
