Two notions here

1) If u changed u'r weedy onboard video card for a super duper pci express card, in practice, would a game running under default dosbox settings, run any faster?

2) In a linux set up, if u replaced slow opensource driver with faster proprietary driver for u'r video card, again, would a game running under default dosbox settings, run any faster?

Newer video cards will not make DOSBox faster, especially not in the default settings.

All DOSBox works with is putting pixels into a 2d plane, anything slowing that down is usually a problem with a driver more than the actual hardware (like nvidia's palette update slug bug). If it were the actual hardware's fault, i'll say it's time to move from that old ISA bus, buddy!

If you want a faster DOSBox, you buy a faster CPU. It's as simple as that.
