I'm trying to run the old DOS Q&A database program.

I've managed to mount and run the exe but I can't work out how to find its working database files.

I've tried directing it to the usual c drive directory from within the program, and also tried using Z

I'm sure I'm missing something very obvious, so kind assistance would be much appreciated!

give us your mountings or if the issue is what I suspect it is you are mounting the directory of the program as c:\ instead of the directory on top of it 😀
For example if your dtabase program is located on your real drive in c:\dosstuff\qa then don't "mount c c:\dosstuff\qa" but "mount c c:\dosstuff"

The regular setting where the files are is:
c:\00data\qa

The program files are in
c:\00data\qaprog

Which should I mount?

I think I can move the database files to another directory if need be.

I usually run the program from a batch file in c:\bat but could do without that for this particular installation.

Thank you!

give us your mountings

😀

But anyway, if you put a copy of c:\00data\ and all its contents at c:\dosstuff and then "mount c c:\dosstuff" you might be able to start it.
The problem is that the program most likely specifically expects its data to be at c:\00data\qa and when you do whatever mountings you normally do (you didn't provide those) you screw it up...
