Hello there,

I got some questions about the current manual.

1.: At the sound section, there is no entry for Adlib?!
2.: At the sound section->Sound Blaster there is the key "compat"
Is this ok or should it be "compact"?

Regards,

Olek

- Adlib
This emulation is almost perfect and includes the Adlib's ability to
almost play digitized sound. Placed at address 220 (also on 388).

Is this ok or should it be "compact"?

It's a compat(ible) emulation of the OPL2/OPL3 chip, means speed was no focus
but getting it as close to the real thing as possible.

Re,

Sorry for this misunderstanding.

I mean not the manual but the default config file.
There are entries for all sound devices except of adlib.Or under which section
it is stored?

regards,
Olek

I think SB also emulates AdLib.

opl2==adlib

What's the actual problem? Just want to disable it or so?

Re,

Thanks for the Info.

I don't know that opl2 == adlib.

I want to write a new frontend for the dosbox, that's why I ask.

Olek

Supplement:

In the config-file under Soundblaster I found this:

oplmode: Type of OPL emulation. On 'auto' the mode is determined by sblaster type. All OPL modes are Adlib-compatible, except for 'cms'.

So is there a description of the modes? If opl2 is adlib I don't understand
the sentence "All OPL modes are Adlib-compatible, except for 'cms'."

Olek

One last question to adlib:

Is the mixer-property valid for adlib?

opl2==adlib, but dualopl2 and opl3 are a superset of the opl2 for the very most part.
So if a game supports adlib it works for any of those opl choices.

The mixer is the collecting output, so yes, the adlib/soundblaster/etc. uses the mixer.
In general it is advisable to set the oplrate to the same value as the mixer rate.
