sound blaster why?

To see if the same settings have an effect on my copy. For example, I used:
Select Digital
Sound Blaster 16 at 220, 1, and 7
Select MIDI
Sound Blaster 16 at 388

and how do i add this to dosbox?

Extract tfs_130.zip.
Place TFS130.exe in your SHOCK folder.
Start DOSBox as you would but instead of SHOCK.EXE, run TFS130.exe to install the patch.

i download the game from cd.

That... doesn't make sense. Do you mean you copied it from the disc without running install?

Okay, I found your other topic where you were installing Future Shock repeatedly. So that can't be right.

But you knew how to phrase it appropriately there?

how do i run tfs 1.30.exe?

C:\CD GAMES\SHOCK
C:\GAMES\SHOCK\TFS130

also how do i pull up my sound settings?

There's a file called HMISET.CFG in your SHOCK folder. You can open it with notepad. This stores the sound settings.

Err... Yes to what? I'll assume this is to my first sentence earlier and you copied the files from the disc without running install.

Here's how I install it.
I've imaged the disc and named it Future_Shock.iso
Future_Shock.iso is located in C:\DOS
I also have a folder C:\DOS\GAMES
In the DOSBox settings under [autoexec] I have:

  • MOUNT C C:\DOS\GAMES -t dir -freesize 400
    IMGMOUNT D C:\DOS\Future_Shock.iso -t iso
    D:
    INSTALL

I start DOSBox and choose:

  • Change the insall type
    Full installation (38MB)
    Change install path
    C:\SHOCK
    Select Digital
    Sound Blaster 16 220 1 7
    Select MIDI
    Sound Blaster 16 388

To patch it I place TFS130.exe in C:\DOS\GAMES\SHOCK
and change [autoexec] to:

  • MOUNT C C:\DOS\GAMES -t dir -freesize 400
    C:
    CD SHOCK
    TFS130

To play it [autoexec] reads:

  • MOUNT C C:\DOS\GAMES -t dir -freesize 400
    IMGMOUNT D C:\DOS\Future_Shock.iso -t iso
    C:
    CD SHOCK
    SHOCK

Make a backup. Install it properly and patch it. Then copy your saves to the new location. I haven't tested if you need to start over after patching. They might still work.

MagicISO, it isn't necessary for running games but I prefer using images. Do you have Future Shock installed and working now?

Ok it says (congratulations you have successfully upgraded your copy of TFS.
Should you decide to re-install the game from the cd, you will also need to re apply
the patch)

than below that it says
C:\GAMES\SHOCK i type SHOCK to start the game and it still crash.

I played a lot of Skynet and Future Shock on DOSBOX 0.73 but it crashed very often. Bethesda's games back then tended to be extremely bug ridden. The patches may make them a little better but I couldn't tell.

I did use ISOs of them.
