Hello, I have quite a good computer (quad core intel) a lot of RAM and Windows 7. Still the sound in all games stutters approx every 30 or so seconds. Is there a way to prevent it? So far I tried Anvil of Dawn, Riddle of Master Lu and some others.
Thanks in advance

and 0.72 is old too (especially bad for Windows 7), but those abandonware sites know no better anyway. Ostriches all around.

I don't think it is because of old DOSBOX version, I tried 0.74 as well, the problem is the same. I have plenty of CPU resources free, more than half of RAM free, still the sound sometimes stutter from time to time. Is it even possible to get sound completely without any problems?

I will try to ask them, but I also tried to run my game (not downloaded) from the pure dosbox (wthout any options) and the result seems to be better. Or maybe it is because I defragmented my HDD? Does the fragmentation of HDD where game data are stored have any influence on sound stuttering?

no.

Use DOSBox 0.74.
Give more cycles to the game if it needs it.
Upgrade or downgrade your audio drivers.
Make sure no bloatware is running on your computer.
Make sure no power management programs are throttling your processor.
Tweak blocksize/prebuffer in DOSBox.conf

bonus post.
Be sure to start with the configuration file that comes with 0.74
the sound settings have changed there.
