I'm having a problem running DD2 through DosBox.
it says "this is a windows 95 executable" even though it should work with dosbox!

Check if you really have the DOS version of the game.
well actually it said on the dosbox site that destruction derby 2 is supported, and while looking for help elsewhere, it said that there are 2 ways to run it: with dosbox or to disable hardware acceleration...
If you have the DOS version then use the DOS installer, not the windows one.

DD2 is also a dos game on the same disc - you probably downloaded some win32 rip from a crappy abandonware site.
