I've just used the dosbox installer for Phantasmagoria 2 and the game runs ok, except for the video interludes and cut scenes. They're very choppy but the sound's ok which results in badly out of sync video in the longer sequences, and there are plenty on the game so it becomes quite annoying. I think it's the same problem that this guy had: Phantasmagoria 2: Puzzle of flesh - DOSBox video choppiness
I changed to ddraw or opengl but that didn't help.

Here's some data from my pc. Excuse me if some of it is irrelevant but I really don't know much about these things.

Operating System
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

Processor
2,00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded

Video
GeForce 6500 nForce 405
256 RAM

Anybody has any idea about a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but that didn't help. Actually, the installer didn't even open. I don't know if I should do anything else besides executing it.

The installer didn't even open? Well, that's weird. Maybe you don't have "Windows Installer" installed. Funny, eh? Just update your Windows XP with one of these fixes:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details … 38-de776fd4138c (Windows Installer 3.1 version, download file named "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe" and run it).

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details … b9-54d056d6f9f4 (Windows Installer 4.5 version, download file named "WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe" and run it).

Then run again the Phantasmagoria 2 MSI Installer, and post here some feedback.

I just downloaded the installer and it still didn't work. I don't have a clue what the problem could be. I recently updated nvidia drivers, could that be related?

Download the Phantasmagoria 2 MSI installer and save it to your hard drive. Then download P2MSI.TXT, save it to the same folder and rename it to P2MSI.CMD. Double-click PSMSI.CMD and let me know what error message you can read on the command window if the installer does not run.

UPDATE: I have uploaded a new version. Now it creates a log file named P2MSILOG.TXT. Please post or upload this file if the installer does not work.

collector: I didn't have a problem with a installer, I had a problem with how the game played in DosBox and that's why I came here. I only have a problem with the installer I was told to try in this forum as an alternative to my DosBox problem.

batracio: the installer still won't open and the log comes out empty.

There are problems with the StC installer and jafa has not been around to address them. This is why I wrote the DOSBox installer. Also, keep in mind that with the StC installer you will need to keep swapping CDs and the DOSBox installer requires no CDs to play. Input would have been nice if there are issues. There are things that can be done, if I had known.

I guess there's a problem with your MSI (Microsoft Installer) setup, but I need to know if you get an error message inside the command window.

About StC installer vs DosBox installer, I prefer the former because it also improves the graphics, but forget the whole thing if it is a no way for you.
