So today in anticipation of Duke Nukem Forever, I wanted to play Duke Nukem 1 and 2.

I am using a MacBook Pro so I downloaded DOSBox 0.74 for Mac OS X.

I then preceded to read the wiki and watch youtube tutorials on what to do, (getting myself pretty confused for awhile) finally I figured it out. I downloaded Duke Nukem 2 from DOS games archive ( http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/duke-nukem-2/ ) and put it in its own folder. I managed to mount that folder as the C: drive, but when I tried to run the .EXE file it said it was unable because it could not find the .DAT file. When I tried to run the .DAT file (which was in the folder) it said Illegal Command.

Confused, I downloaded another game from DOS games archive (Aladdin) and tried to run that to see if Duke Nukem was faulty. But now I can even get DOSBox to recognise a file as a C: drive.

Now am I just an idiot, or is this actually as hard as it sounds? Could someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

you run install.bat instead. hit enter a few times, watch it progress... then type nukem2 and boom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's time to kick butt and chew bubblegum.

I did also try install.bat but that said illeagal command or not .dat file (I don't remember which)

But now it wont let me mount c drive. It just says that the directory doesn't exsist.

Post your exact mounting commands. You're definitely doing something wrong, it's always possible to mount a c drive.
