Hi all
I`m trying to get The Perfect General 2 working.
First off I upgraded my old arsenal a bit, always was a fan of DosBox and D-Fend (Which I already had) But decided to go with the newest DosBox 0.74 and D-Fend Reloaded 1.10
So with the arsenal upgraded, I went to have a look in the The Perfect General 2.rar file, there was the install folder, called TPG2, so I extracted that into one of my harddrives folders called Gamle Spill (Translated to English thats Old Games) in which I already have quite a lot of games.
Inside the TPG2 folder is the game files as they look like when the game is installed, and an ISO file called TPG2.iso
What I did was simply creating a new profile in D-Fend Reloaded, and added the launch exe file and setup exe file, hit OK, and start, to determine if the game would start with default profile settings, and, if it didnt work, determine the remedies.
Well, it says that I have to insert the The Perfect General 2 CD and hit a button to continue or ESC to exit.
Now, problem is that I have no experience with mounting or adding CD ROM stuff in ANY sort of emulator.
But I know the interface of D-Fend so I exited, right click the TPG2 profile, hit Edit and go to Drives, and go for the CD Image mount solution, I copy the TPG2.iso into my Gamle Spill folder instead so as not to create any unfortunate "crossing paths" problem, browse for the newly copied TPG2.iso in the Gamle Spill folder, hit open, assign it the D: letter, (seeing as the C: letter is used as a Virtual Harddrive for the game) and click OK, to make the changes and close the profiler.
This rewards me with this error:
There is no mounted drive that is allowed to reach the physical folder B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2\. which is needed to be able to run the program. D-Fend Reloaded will try to interpret the path as a DOSBox local path.
So I tried putting the TPG2.iso in other places, in all places I could imagine, like the desktop, the B:\ root, the C:\ Root, a different folder on any harddrive etc, but I`m rewarded with the SAME problem every time:
There is no mounted drive that is allowed to reach the physical folder B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2\. which is needed to be able to run the program. D-Fend Reloaded will try to interpret the path as a DOSBox local path.
So, I tried a different solution, and mount the Iso file with MagicDisc instead, and extract the contents into B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2CD
Then I go back to D-Fend, right click profile, edit, drives, and choose CD Drive instead, then I choose, Mount Fixed path, and mount B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2CD and label it D: with the Drive letter D.
Guess what, I still get this error:
There is no mounted drive that is allowed to reach the physical folder B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2\. which is needed to be able to run the program. D-Fend Reloaded will try to interpret the path as a DOSBox local path.
SOOO, I mount the ISO with MagicDisc again, and go back to D-Fend and back into the drives thingy as I`ve already mentioned, and choose CD Drive, Mount Fixed path and then I mount U:\ (U:\ is the virtual drive for MagicDisc) TPG2GAME\
And again assign it the D: label, and hit OK, and AGAIN:
There is no mounted drive that is allowed to reach the physical folder B:\Gamle Spill\TPG2\. which is needed to be able to run the program. D-Fend Reloaded will try to interpret the path as a DOSBox local path.
So my only question really is what do I do now?
Sincerely Yours
