hi, today I got hands on a TSSH-162D dvd-rom drive. I want to use it in my 386 and replace the working LG GCE-8525B cd-rom.
both hdd and cd-rom are currently connected to the promise eidemax controller. but yeah, the new dvd-rom will not be detected, no matter which driver I use (qcdrom, mtmcdai, ...)
I believe the technical difference between the cd- and the dvd-rom is that the cd-rom is a IDE device whereas the dvd-rom is a EIDE device. but shouldn't they be backward compatible?
