So, i can get things like commander keen and cosmo working, but whenever i try and run Duke, the text in DOSBox either turns yellow, or it just keeps creating a new line???

Change output=surface under DOSBox configuration to anything else: overlay, ddraw, opengl...
Mine is set for ddraw and I am running it under W7. Depending on your graphic card some settings might be better than others.
ok, i just tried that and none of them will open the game?
with all except surface i press enter, and it looks like its going to start the game and then it just sits at the screen DOSBox on a blank line (ie, just the flashing cursor??)
which Duke game is it, exactly?
the first first shareware one should be able to run with the exact same settings as Cosmo anyway... are you using a frontend / multiple configs?
Do you start the right executable?
