This has to be one of the most ridiculous auctions I've seen recently. The guy is selling a backup copy of an old PC game on plain floppy disks, with a photocopy of the copy protection codes... for more than the price of your average used game.

This may be the best one yet.

Uhh, that's not legal is it?

I flagged it as counterfeit software. Lets see what happens.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
It actually is. The GPL allows you to distribute and monetize that distribution. You must provide a copy of the license and access to the source for all users of the software.
All hail the Great Capacitor Brand Finder
Oh no, we've resurrected the selling DOSBox on eBay topic 🤣
World's foremost 486 enjoyer.
I can summarize quite simply. The GPL does not protect stupid Ebay shoppers from themselves. That's definitely related to the topic of this thread.

One hour left on this auction in Sweden. "Very old computer, for collection only"
It's a 386 with monitor, mouse and keyboard. Only showing pictures of the manuals.
Starting bid $17500, BIN $29000

I almost don't dare to be on the page. I have a Lenovo laptop with terrible trackpad. If I just hold my finger on it the pointer may start jumping around randomly and click things. Made some accidental facebook likes this way..
Untested 286 motherboard...

Would be curious to know how much he would want for it... tested, and working!
Top that...
a motherboard for... $4,499.00!

Yep that's a fully-intact expansion board for a NeXt computer, I'm surprised it doesn't go for more honestly. NeXt parts are quite rare to find in good shape these days.

Not unreasonable for what it is. There probably weren't a whole lot of them made. A motherboard replacement with 5 processors would have been outrageously expensive when it was new. When was the last time you saw one like it for sale anywhere?

They're historical. One of the first semi-accurate DSP's for the computing world. And this board gives 5 DSP modules to the NEXT computer. It's probably worth more than that and they're under-selling themselves. There weren't very many made.. although finding a good version that works of the computer that drops in to would be as much or more than the board it's self costs.

And that's not even taking into account the "Jobs effect" that saw all hardware Steve Jobs had a hand in skyrocket in price after he died. I wish I had been stocking up on NeXT systems and parts beforehand. 🤣

At least someone has humour! If it is such a bargain why haven't you bought it already!? Go ahead... buy it, since it's worth more ñ all!
The most i've ever spent on a mobo is about $120! ...and that was a one off,
Did you grab that bargain yet?
Jobs effect!?
Anyone who obscenely overpays for something just somebody else dies are a little short of silly.

Dear diary, today I learnt that some guy on the internet has never spent more than $120 on a motherboard - and that was a one off! Fascinating!
Life? Don't talk to me about life.
Hmmmm.... I have never spend more than aprox. 25 US Dollars on a motherboard.

758? A joke right? Would be right if it had some good exotic hardware. This one does not even have an AWE64-Gold. Only SB16. And a cheap CF card Solution.I also spottet this one. Some people indeed think that they should get quite the interrest for storing pieces of hardware like this.
The only good thing about this Prolinea for sale is that it got me to remember two of these Prolinea 4/66 machines I've got in the basement.
Looks like I'm in the money ;-p
I think it's funny that the site description has it's specs in fractions of Ghz and GB instead of Mhz and MB.
Yeah.... The site is based on the assumption, that stuff on sale are no more than 10 years old.
This explains why there is no option for MB or Mhz, when you wish to create an sales add.
The good part of this, is that you can allways spot if the seller knows about hardware.
I have seen, from time to time, something like a 486 for sale. Were the seller states the CPU as a 66 or 80 Ghz model.
Or have written that the P4 was running at 3000 Ghz.
