Hello.

I recently pieced together an old PC for playing DOS games. It's a Pentium II 350MHz with 256 MB PC100 SDRAM, 10GB HDD, and a SoundBlaster 16 ISA soundcard.

In particular I've been trying to get Daggerfall to work. As a point of reference, I've already run other games like DOOM, and Fallout 1, without issue.

I installed Freedos 1.1 after completely re-formatting the existing partition on the HDD. I then checked the sound card output by playing the above games, running QV Pro, and listening to some MP3s with MXPlay.

I went to Bethesda's site, downloaded the free-wared Daggerfall, and proceeded to install it from an extracted folder on the harddrive. During the installation, I had selected the huge install. After completion, I started up the setup utility, set my sound options successfully, and launched the game.

At the character "province" select screen, clicking on a region causes the game to crash with a "211" error.

Any ideas?

Yeah. I had seen, and read that thread after searching. It doesn't seem to address running Daggerfall in actual DOS (or FreeDOS).

I'm not running DOSBox: I'm running FreeDOS on an ancient DOS era machine. One that actually has an ISA slot (not PCI) for the old style Sound Blasters.
