Greetings all,

I am attempting to run an Older Point of Sale Program called "The Right Touch" by Specter Software.

When I attempt to login to the program it says the machine has not been setup. This is normal, so I run the "office.exe" I get an error "This station ([Random symbols]) has not been configured.

Where the random symbols should be the computer name.

My question is, how does one set a computer name? Is this a DOS feature or done somewhere in the dosbox configuration?

I am running ubuntu 10.04 desktop.

Thank you in advanced!

This is the DOS subforum, not the DOSBox subforum. As clearly stated in the DOSBox subforum, DOSBox IS NOT SUITED TO RUN YOUR NON-GAMING DOS APPLICATION.

If you copied the files from an existing installation on another computer, then you probably need to install the program from its original disks instead. There is no standard way of "naming" a computer in DOS.

The only other thing I can suggest is booting MS-DOS from a hard drive image within DOSBox, as the program may be trying to use some sort of disk access that is only available when DOSBox uses a hard drive image. There are instructions on doing so at Install DOS in DOSBox .
