I recently managed to retrieve my really old games from an equally old ASUS P6300 laptop. All of the games work with few or no problems under VDMSound or DOSBox 0.74.

However, both Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold and Blake Stone: Planet Strike run extremely slowly under DOSBox 0.74 at default settings. They become playable at around 25,000 cycles or so, but I've heard this is not normal. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

For the record, the games run without issues on VDMSound. I'm using Windows XP SP3, if this helps.

Thanks!

A PII-266 is too slow to play most games via DOSBox. When DOSBox was new, I had a PIII-550 and it was still too slow for most games.

For that old of hardware, I would recommend the following OSes for DOS games in order from best to worst:
- Boot to real/pure DOS (FreeDOS or MS-DOS)
- Win98SE
- WinXP + VDMSound

Yes, you better try running it under real ms-dos.
