Hey

I've just finished my newest build, based on:

GA-586ATS Rev 2D + 256KB COAST
Intel Pentium 166 P54CS (without MMX)
2x 16MB EDO RAM
Riva 128 4MB PCI
ESS688FC Based ISA Soundcard
3COM 3C905C-TX-M PCI NIC
ST34311A 4,3GB IDE disk
LG 8x CD-ROM drive

I installed Win95C with Plus! as well as a bunch of software and games like:
MS Encarta 98
MS Frontpage 98
MS Internet Explorer 5.5
MS Office for Windows 95 (Office 95) Professional
MS Works 6.0
SimCopter
SimCity 2000 for Windows 95
SimTower
Speed Demons
NFS II SE
GTA
Hover from the Win95 CD

and still 500MB of 2GB of the first partition free, unbelievable (I've installed all the sample pictures too, 🤣)

I like this build very much as it reminds me heavily on my first own (new bought) PC, a Compaq Presario 4162 with 150MHz Intel Pentium and 16MB RAM as well as 2.1GB of HD space - which was subsequently upgraded to 32 or 64MB of memory, the exact same ST34311A and a Voodoo 3 PCI.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! I got a similar project I'm working on. I stuck a Pentium 233mmx mobo inside a desktop 286 case. Something seems to be wrong with it currently though, not sure the PSU rated 200w it's actually putting out enough juice because it randomely locks up and blue screens. 🤣

🤣 that's pr0n!

I've got a P55C 233MMX build already, made that quite a while ago so I don't remember the exact specs.
Everything I know (because I can see them on the back of the PC 🤣) is that it has a Voodoo 2 12MB SLI built in 😁
Don't even remember which mainboard it has 🤣 (maybe an ASUS P/I-P55T2P4 or another Gigabyte mobo...)

Lol NIce, and I figured out partially what was wrong btw. When I set it to boot from CD and floppy before HDD then it becomes weirdly unstable and sluggish but when I tell it to boot only from HDD or HDD then everything else it works perfectly fine. Gotta work out the kinks still but it's working fine now, in fact I'm playing AOE at this very moment on it. 😁

The Pentium era was awesome! I have very nice memories of C&C, Duke Nukem 3D, WarCraft II, Doom 2 and other games during LAN parties back then. My first Pentium was a 90 in a full tower with SCSI (not Adaptec) and SiS MOBO with VGA using RAM. I overclocked it to 100. I then upgraded to a 133 overclocked to 150 with an Asus MOBO and S3 VGA. Later on a 166 MMX and finally a 233 MMX in use until 2000. In 2000 I upgraded to a Pentium III 800 in a mini tower.

I sold my 486DX33 for NLG 2K in the mid 90s and then bought the Pentium 90. I then got a part time job in community college as a network / system admin. That paid for subsequent upgrades.
