Wouldn't you need some sort of loopback device? There's a few apps I've seen that just take any and all output to the soundcard and write it to disk, regardless of the source.

(Of course, no names spring to mind right now...)

If you use LaunchPad it's made really easy in the advanced properties - you can dump wav (for figital effects and/or AdLib) as well as mid (for MIDI music).

vdmsound has the function, in VDMS.INI:
[Wave Writer]
CLSID = DiskWriter.WaveOut
Path = DiskWriter.dll

but i don't know how to use it. can you tell me?
